One of the reasons why sellers and buyers love to
use eBay so much is the ability to sell anything. Whatever it
is that buyers are looking for they are almost guaranteed to find
it on eBay. That's why there is currently over 100 million eBay
members.
There have been some unusual items sold on eBay. Some items that
sellers have considering throwing out actually fetch a substantial
amount of money, just because for some reason or another someone
else in the world wanted it.
This opens up a huge market for anyone considering entering the
eBay selling business. It almost gives you a license to source
anything and then to sell it on eBay.
Note that although eBay provides the opportunity to sell almost
anything, it will now allow illegal items, animals (including
animals that were once alive, and are now stuffed and mounted),
replicas, alcohol, weapons and firearms, tobacco products, prescription
or illegal drugs, or services to be sold.
There are also several items that you may think are fine to sell,
although they are in fact against eBay selling policies. Items
such as tickets may be sold, but it is illegal to sell tickets
for a higher price than you originally paid for them. This is
called ticket scalping, and it is illegal.
Copyrighted items - such as DVD's, CD's, or software - may not
be sold through eBay auctions. However, CD's, DVD's or any software
that you bought legitimately can be sold as long as they are not
copies that you have made.
If you are unsure as to whether you are allowed to sell any particular
item, contact eBay before going ahead and listing the item or
sourcing the product.
The problem that many have when wanting to enter the eBay selling
business though is that they do not know what and where to find
items to sell. This is vital to the success of any eBay seller.
You need to keep an eye on your competition and also try and source
your products for the cheapest available price.
Small product niches can provide a good revenue stream, although
selling in several niches is even better. Why? Well with the amount
of current eBay sellers and future sellers looking to get into
eBay selling, it provides the opportunity for large competition
in your niche. Selling in several niches means that should competition
become too fierce in one of the niches, you still have your other
revenue streams to rely upon.
The key to successful eBay selling is finding a large quantity
of products for the cheapest available price.
